The Epps Biting Fly Trap™ is uniquely effective because it catches and kills biting flies by using the flies own natural behavior patterns. Many biting flies are attracted to large objects of contrasting color to the surroundings, because those objects look like potential hosts like cattle, horses and dogs.
Biting flies (e.g. stable flies, march flies and green heads) tend to circle the host before actually landing to bite. The Epps Biting Fly Trap takes advantage of this behavior by providing a large, contrasting surface area, with transparent areas (clear plastic deflectors) that look like open space between an animal’s legs and over its back through which the flies would normally circle before feeding. The biting flies try to fly through the “open space”. The flies hit the deflectors and ricochet into the soapy water in the trays below. The soapy water makes escape difficult (nearly impossible) for the flies, and they drown.
In areas heavily infested with biting flies, the Epps Biting Fly Trap™ can catch and kill up to nearly half a kilogram of biting flies per day. What a relief for your animals…and you!
